Health and nutrition are very important to us all. How we feel on the inside both physically and mentally has a knock on effect as to how we lead our lives. Along with weight control and fitness, food is one of the most important aspects of our health.
We should not feel tired, lethargic, or possibly even irritable. These are side effects which can be expected of a diet dominated by processed food. Therefore a diet where food has had little or no processing has much more nutritional value. A ‘whole food’ diet consisting of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, pulses, brown rice, grains, lean organic free range meat, fish etc will always be preferable to a diet that is predominantly processed.
Eating foods found in their natural state is something we should all keep trying to work towards. It doesn’t end there either, buying food that has been grown locally wherever possible, has one obvious advantage, shorter time taken from field to fork, therefore retaining a higher nutrient value! Add that to lower carbon footprint due to less transportation, plus supporting your local economy and you have a win win situation.
